Yesterday's event for Meals on Wheels was so great. There was a huge group of school children, families and friends. We made holiday bundles out cedar, sage, eucalyptus, and pine. We made over 100 of these to be sent out to the elderly clients during the holidays. It was a huge success but I am now feeling exhausted and need a major pick me up. I have teamed up with the inspiring and eco-friendly yoga affirmation company, Affirmat, to bring you a tip every day this week on how to survive + thrive during the holidays. Enjoy. 

Tip # 1 Rise + Shine On with an Original Green Smoothie

  • 1 Frozen Banana (chopped)
  • 1 cup Watercress
  • 2 cups Spinach
  • ¼ cup Almond Butter 
  • 1 scoop Protein Powder
  • 1 cup Coconut Water

Place ingredients into Vitamix in the order listed below:

1. Base: Frozen Bananas

{Use hard and chunky ingredients such as frozen fruits, nuts, or seeds.}

2. Bulk: Spinach, Watercress and Almond butter

{Soft, chunky ingredients like leafy greens and nut butters. We use watercress because it was ranked the #1 powerhouse vegetable.}

3. Powders or superfoods: Tera's vanilla whey protein 

{ Whey Powder is our powder or superfood of choice. We do not place powder on the bottom of smoothie because the smoothie will not blend evenly. We recommend teras whey because it is organic, hormone-free and fresh, plus the vanilla adds a nice flavor.}

4. Liquid: Coconut water 

{You could also use regular water or any kind of milk}

5. Ice
