These fire and ice pops are the perfect combination of sweet and sour, they are full of health benefits and will satisfy your need to keep things spicy but also cool down this Summer. I came across Fire Cider at Moon Juice Shop, where Amanda Chantal Bacon, curates her shop with some of the highest quality health products. From tonics, to dental care, to cooking essentials, I am always amazed at how good these products make my body feel. 

I started taking Fire Cider to help boost my immunity and clear my sinuses. I was struggling to do so, but the cider was one of the only things that helped right away. Q+A with Amy Huebner of Fire Cider

Q: What is Fire Cider?  

A: Fire Cider is a spicy, tangy and sweet health tonic that we make with all raw and certified organic: apple cider vinegar, local wildflower honey, oranges, lemons, onions, garlic, ginger, horseradish, habanero peppers and turmeric.  

Q: How did you get into making Fire Cider?

A: In the late 1990's Dana began making tonics for himself to combat seasonal allergies and bronchitis based on his grandmother's home remedies.  Over the years Dana added more potent whole foods to his tonic and adopted the name Fire Cider.  When Dana and I moved back to the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts in 2009 he introduced me to Fire Cider for the first time and it changed my life!  I quickly realized that my daily shot was really helping me stay healthy during the winter, no more catching every bug that came around.  I couldn't believe such an amazing tonic was not available in stores- how many winters I'd suffered through without any Fire Cider.  We made an extra big batch to sell at a local craft fair in December 2010 and soon after were in business making as much Fire Cider as possible!

Q: Why should we drink Fire Cider?

A: I take a daily dose, anywhere from a small sip to a full shot glass, to support my immune system (I have an auto immune disease) and I love Fire Cider as a digestive aid, especially after a big dinner.  Dana continues to take Fire Cider daily for his seasonal allergies and to ward off bronchitis in the winter.  It makes a nice eye opener in the morning or in place of coffee as an afternoon pick me up.  

Q: What other recipes do you like to use for Fire Cider?

A:   I love to make lemonade with an added shot of Fire Cider or just add it to soda water for a refreshing summer drink, especially after going for a run.  Fire Cider also makes a wicked easy salad dressing, just add salt and olive or coconut oil!
